A few months ago we were invited by Tailored Chefs private catering services to produce a film showing off their recent pop-up restaurant night; Under the Sea at Mish Mash in Chorlton, Manchester.
Tailored Chefs is the brainchild of Jan and Petra Cron, it's a personal chef service and catering company specialising in private dinner parties and small scale events.
Chef Jan's pop-up seafood menu was created using produce from local Chorlton fishmongers Out of the Blue. OOTB offer local fish from sustainable sources and endeavour to buy on moral and ethical grounds from British inshore fleets.
During the evening's filming, James at Mish Mash was kind enough to give me free reign of the kitchen and front of house. I was able to film the chefs cooking with the fresh produce, the waiting staff bussing plates in and out of the kitchen, and happy customers tucking into their delicious 5 course meals.
It's the first film I've shot and cut solo for a while now (I often use freelance camera operators and editors, leaving me to concentrate on directing/producing). It was nice to get my hands back on the cameras (FS700 & A7S) and have a real delve into SpeedGrade too.
