The Next Giant Leap is a collaborative film, produced by Coolbox and staff at the University of Edinburgh and The Open University. Production began back in 2011, with the aim of producing a feature length documentary exploring the current state of—and attitudes towards—the human exploration of Mars.
Although still in development, the team created a shorter 'teaser' version of the film (see above) to whet the appetites of online viewers until the full film is released later this year.
Mars has fascinated humankind ever since we first gazed with intelligent eyes up into the night sky. But will we ever reach the planet ourselves? Through interviews with scientists at the cutting edge of planetary science and astrobiology, this short documentary discusses the challenges and rewards of our next giant leap.
