Coolbox were lucky enough to be invited to produce a series of videos for The Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh over the past couple of months. Here's a little rundown of the things we've been working on.
Firstly, a little background...
The RCSEd has been in existence for over 500 years and, today, their membership remains as committed to excellence and innovation in surgical practice as those who have gone before them. With over 22,000 members in total, across nearly 100 countries, the key aim of the College continues to be the maintenance and promotion of the highest standards of surgical practice and surgical training.
First we produced a short interview film featuring surgical consultant Jon Dearing. Jon is at the forefront of a programme dedicated to educating both consultants and patients of the importance of pre and post surgery exercise. You can watch the video here.
Next, the Coolbox team were required to capture one of the College's Diploma ceremonies. We filmed the one hour event using three DSLR cameras, following the graduates and special guests receiving their awards and diplomas. The ceremony film will be hosted on the RCSEd website, as well as encoded for DVD output.
Most recently, we filmed the College's annual Presidents Meeting, where hundreds of surgeons from across the UK came to network and enjoy a series of presentations about a particular area of surgery. This year's topic was Emergency Surgery in the 21st Century. The event consisted of 24 presentations throughout the day, across various venues. Again, they will be hosted on the RCSEd website.
While at the conference, we also shot additional material to be edited together into a highlights film of the event. This consisted of a series of voxpop interviews with a handful of speakers and delegates, asking what their favourite part of the day was. This film will be edited down to 2-3 minutes, and circulated through the RCSEd social network feeds and email newsletters.
